Pray for Lochaber – 9 May 2024
An open prayer event is to be held in Fort William on the evening of Thursday May 9th to pray for Lochaber’s NHS, businesses, schools and more.
“Pray For Lochaber” is a one-off gathering to bring people together to celebrate the local area, while also channelling concerns about the difficulties faced by local people and by the area as a whole, such as the ongoing concerns about the Belford Hospital and the impact of climate change on our local environment.
Parish Minister David Sim said: “Everyone is welcome to come along – you don’t have to be a prayer expert, keen to speak in public or even a church regular! The aim is simply to bring people together for coffee and enjoy fellowship in an informal prayer session. Much of the session will simply be sitting together in contemplative silence as we take our hopes and concerns to God.”
The event is timed to coincide with the launch day of Thy Kingdom Come, a global and diverse prayer initiative supported by 85 Christian denominations and now celebrated in over 180 countries. It will be an opportunity to be part of something much bigger, while also reflecting the community in which we live. There will be prayer around education, the NHS, government, churches, local residents and other topics of interest locally.
The event will be held at 7:30pm in the MacIntosh Hall at Duncansburgh Church on May 9th. There is no need to pre-book, just turn up. Any enquiries can be sent to dsim@churchofscotland.org.uk.
