Suggested Resources

Want to get started with the Bible, but don’t know how? It can seem daunting, but there are lots of resources to help. One way is to join a Bible Study or Discipleship Group. Contact us for details of times or locations, or check the front page of this site. And on Sunday mornings we walk through a large part of the Bible, and what it means to our daily lives. Specific questions? You can have a coffee with a member of the ministry team (they’re buying!)

Online Resources

You can get the Bible on your phone for free via the YouVersion Bible app. There are lots of translations of the Bible (it was originally written in Hebrew and Greek). The New Living Translation (NLT) is a great one to start with. There are also Bible reading plans. There’s also a version of the app for children!

The Bible Project is a great place to start exploring the Bible, through short, easily digestible videos.

Sanctuary First is a Scottish online ministry, with short messages, music and more.

Are podcasts more your thing? There are lots of questions answered in the Things Unseen Podcast.

Books

The best place to start reading is the Bible (possibly with the Gospel of Mark). But to deepen your faith, some books you might want to explore include:

  • Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis – a classic.
  • How to Pray by Pete Greig – there are many ways to pray, and Pete uncovers some of them.
  • Whats So Amazing about Grace by P. Yancey – In 1987, an IRA bomb buried Gordon Wilson and his twenty-year-old daughter beneath five feet of rubble. Gordon alone survived. And forgave. He said of the bombers, “I have lost my daughter, but I bear no grudge. . . . I shall pray, tonight and every night, that God will forgive them.”
  • The Case for Christ by Lee Strobel – if you like evidence, this is a good place to start.
