Soup Saturdays

On the first Saturday of the month, we hold a free soup lunch and it has proved to be very popular. 

What began as part of the warm space initiative several winters ago, has grown into a well-loved fixture in our church life.  Throughout that winter, every Saturday morning  the MacIntosh Hall was open, providing fresh homemade soup, rolls, tea & coffee, and more importantly, a warm welcoming space for those feeling isolated or struggling to warm their home.  We also had help from AliEnergy who provided hot water bottles, thermal socks and advice leaflets.

It has now evolved into a monthly event, where all are welcome to join us.  We have a small group of ‘soup dragons’ ready at the stove but would always be glad of more helpers. We still open at 11, and generally serve from 12 -2.  There’s always plenty tea, coffee and biscuits available, and occasionally home baking.
